Mohammed Salah deserves the Ballon d’Or – Ex-Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez

Mohamed Salah Makka

Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has tipped Egyptian star Mohammed Salah to win the Ballon d’Or following his outstanding performance.

The 32-year-olf highly-rated attacker has performed admirably this season for Liverpool, who are close to securing the Premier League title.

Salah has racked up 32 goals and provided 23 assists across competitions for Liverpool, making him a strong contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The forward has 45 goal contributions across competitions, surpassing Thierry Henry in the 2002/2003 season and the same as Erling Haaland in the 2022/2023 season.

And according to Benitez, Salah deserves to win the Ballon d’Or considering his performance this season.

“Salah has gotten older? But he continues to decide the outcome of matches. When a player takes care of himself and plays at such a level, age doesn’t matter. Of course, Salah deserves the Ballon d’Or. Why not?” Benitez stated.

Meanwhile, Benitez has hailed the contract extension of Mohammed Salah at Liverpool.

“Extending Salah’s contract is 100% the right step because he is an outstanding figure in world football. In recent years, he has constantly demonstrated his qualities and maintained his level, which many cannot achieve. All of Liverpool is happy that he stays”
