Farid Alfa-Ruprecht: Hannover 96 eye loan move for Leverkusen winger
Farid Alfa-Ruprecht, the Germany-Ghana right winger currently at Bayer Leverkusen, is being linked with a move to 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96 as the Lower Saxony club explore attacking reinforcements for the new season.
The 20-year-old, who is under contract at Leverkusen until 30 June 2030, has a current market valuation of €3 million and is regarded as a candidate for a switch to Hannover as they look to add pace and depth in wide areas. Talks are understood to be at an early stage, with the framework of any potential deal yet to be defined, but a loan is viewed as the most realistic option given the length of his agreement at the BayArena.
Alfa-Ruprecht spent last season gaining senior experience on loan at VfL Bochum, making 26 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga and contributing three goals and two assists. That exposure to the division is seen as a key factor in Hannover’s interest, with the club targeting players already adapted to the league’s demands.
Born in Hamburg and eligible for both Germany and Ghana, Alfa-Ruprecht joined Leverkusen in July 2025 from Manchester City’s youth set-up in a €1.3 million deal after winning the U21 Premier League title with City’s U21s in 2024-25. He has yet to make a Bundesliga appearance for Leverkusen but has featured in domestic cup competition for the club.
With four years remaining on his contract, Leverkusen are under no pressure to sell, and any agreement with Hannover would need to reflect both his long-term status at the club and his recent development in the German second tier.
