Emmanuel Addai: Ghana winger linked with free transfer move to Lecce
Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Addai, currently without a club after leaving Qarabag, is being linked with a move to Serie A side Lecce. The 24-year-old left-sided attacker, who is valued at around €1.2 million, is available on a free transfer following the end of his spell with the Azerbaijani champions.
Lecce are understood to be exploring a deal for Addai as they look to reinforce their wide options ahead of the new campaign, with the former Qarabag player able to operate on the left while preferring his right foot. His status as a free agent is thought to make any agreement financially accessible for the Italian club, who would not have to pay a transfer fee.
Addai arrives on the market after a productive period in Azerbaijan, where he helped Qarabag secure the league title in the 2024-25 season and gained exposure in European competition, including appearances in the Champions League and Europa League. Before moving to Qarabag in August 2024, he had spells in Spain’s second tier with AD Alcorcon and in the French lower leagues, building experience across different European environments.
Born in Kumasi in August 2001 and standing at 1.73m, Addai has accumulated top-flight minutes and continental experience at a relatively young age, factors that are believed to appeal to Lecce’s recruitment staff as they assess low-cost attacking options.
For now, the Ghanaian remains unattached after his July 2026 departure from Qarabag, leaving Lecce and other potential suitors free to open formal talks over a possible deal.
