Benzema’s Al Hilal future uncertain as stand-off over role and status drags on

For their part, the Al Hilal board are not believed to be fully committed to keeping him at all costs. However, any departure would depend on receiving what they regard as an acceptable financial offer that safeguards the club’s interests – something that has not materialised so far.

That leaves the central question unresolved: will Al Hilal ultimately soften their stance in order to retain Benzema, or proceed with a parting of ways if the right bid arrives?
