Nabil Maaloul resigns as Chabab Belouizdad manager after draw with USM Alger

Nabil Maaloul has announced his resignation as manager of Chabab Belouizdad following their 2-2 draw with USM Alger in the seventh round of the Algerian league.

Mohamed Ali Ben Hamouda scored both of Chabab Belouizdad’s goals, while Mohamed Amine Ramdaoui and Saadi Radouani were on target for USM Alger.

The result moved Chabab Belouizdad to 14 points, level with MC Oran at the top of the Algerian league. MC Oran remain first on goal difference.

The match was marked by trouble and protests over the decisions of referee Mustapha Ghorbal, who awarded three penalties and showed two red cards. One of the dismissals was issued to Chabab Belouizdad manager Maaloul.

Speaking at the post-match news conference, the Tunisia manager confirmed that he was stepping down from his position. Maaloul said he was unable to continue carrying out his duties, but did not provide further details about the decision.

Chabab Belouizdad’s management has not yet announced its position on Maaloul’s departure through the club’s official pages.

Maaloul has managed eight clubs and three national teams during his coaching career. His previous roles have included spells with Esperance Sportive de Tunis, USM Alger and Al-Duhail, as well as the national teams of Tunisia, Kuwait and Syria.
