Hussein El Shahat warns Al Ahly face tough Kitara test in Confederation Cup

Hussein El Shahat says Al Ahly must expect a difficult second-leg meeting with Kitara when the Ugandan side visit on Sunday in the Confederation Cup round of 32.

Al Ahly hold a 2-1 advantage from the first leg in Uganda, having come from behind to secure victory. Omar El Saai and Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” scored the goals for the Egyptian club.

Speaking through Al Ahly’s Facebook account, El Shahat said the tie remained finely balanced despite his side’s first-leg success.

“Kitara’s match will not be easy at all,” he said. “We saw how difficult it was in Uganda, when we were trailing by a goal, but we managed to score twice and come back to win.

“We will try to achieve a comfortable result in the second leg.”

El Shahat also underlined Al Ahly’s ambition to challenge for every trophy available to them, while stressing that their immediate priority was completing the job against Kitara.

“African competitions are different from the league, but we are focused and competing for all the trophies,” he added.

“We will play the second leg first and deal with each step separately until we achieve our goal and win the competition.”

Al Ahly were forced to respond after falling behind in the opening match, but goals from Omar El Saai and Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” turned the game in their favour.

El Shahat said the squad’s unity would remain important as they seek to progress.

“We always talk to one another as players and support each other in order to achieve victory in the matches,” he said.
