Al Hilal line up sensational move for Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele after securing Summerville deal

Al Hilal have opened talks to sign France star Ousmane Dembele from Paris Saint-Germain in what would be one of the most high-profile transfers in Saudi Pro League history.

The Riyadh club has already wrapped up a deal for Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United for a reported €80m, a fee that would make him the second most expensive signing in the league’s history.

Italian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that Dembele has now emerged as Al Hilal’s next major target in the current summer window, with the Saudi champions moving to establish contact with the player’s camp.

According to Tavolieri, the club – known as “Al Zaeem” (The Boss) – has begun discussions with Dembele’s representatives to secure their approval before opening formal negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.

The pursuit comes as PSG are keen to extend the winger’s contract, which currently runs until 2028, and to keep one of their marquee players at the Parc des Princes.

Talks begin over Dembele switch

Tavolieri says Al Hilal have “already started communicating” with Dembele’s entourage as they explore the possibility of bringing the Frenchman to Saudi Arabia.

The initial phase, he suggests, is focused on obtaining a green light from the player’s side before attempting to strike an agreement with PSG.

Any deal for Dembele, who plays primarily as a right winger, would follow Al Hilal’s high-profile recruitment strategy over recent windows, as Saudi clubs continue to invest heavily in elite European talent.

The scale of the Summerville transfer – at around €80m – underlines the club’s willingness to pay premium fees, and Dembele would almost certainly command a package that places him among the league’s top earners.

PSG determined to keep Ballon d’Or star

Dembele’s situation is complicated by PSG’s desire to renew or strengthen his terms.

The Paris club is reported to be intent on securing the long-term future of the player, “the Ballon d’Or holder”, whose contract is set to run until 2028.

Dembele has been described as one of the standout performers for PSG in recent years, playing a decisive role as they lifted the UEFA Champions League title in back-to-back seasons.

Those performances culminated in the forward being awarded the Ballon d’Or as the world’s best player in 2025 – a status that makes any attempt to lure him away from Europe a major statement of intent.

On the international stage, Dembele has also been a central figure for France.

He produced an impressive campaign at the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, where he featured in all eight of his country’s matches.

Across the tournament, Dembele scored six goals and provided two assists, confirming his status as one of the most influential attacking players in the global game.

Such output for both club and country underlines why Al Hilal view him as a transformative signing and why PSG are reluctant to lose him at the peak of his career.

Al Hilal’s wider rebuilding plan

The move for Dembele is part of a broader recruitment drive in Riyadh.

Having already agreed the transfer of Summerville from West Ham, Al Hilal appear determined to deepen their attacking options with players who can operate across the front line and in creative roles.

Dembele’s versatility in attack, his playmaking ability, and his defensive work from the front all fit into Al Hilal’s push to dominate domestically and strengthen their position in Asian competition.
