Esperance urge fans not to travel to Libya for Al-Swehly CAF Champions League clash
Espérance Sportive de Tunis have urged their supporters not to travel to Libya for their CAF Champions League match against Al-Swehly on October 18, warning that the club will not take responsibility for fans who disregard the directive.
The Tunisian giants are scheduled to face Al-Swehly at Misrata Stadium in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the competition.
In a statement, Espérance confirmed they had rejected the ticket allocation offered to their supporters by the Libyan club, citing the limited number of tickets available and the stadium’s seating capacity.
The club subsequently called on its fan base to respect the decision and refrain from travelling to Misrata for the encounter.
Espérance reject Al-Swehly ticket allocation
Espérance said the number of tickets allocated to their supporters was insufficient, prompting the club to reject the offer ahead of the continental fixture.
The decision means the Tunisian side’s supporters have been advised against attending the match, despite the significance of the encounter in their campaign to progress in Africa’s premier club competition.
The club also clarified that it would not be responsible for supporters who choose to travel to Libya, regardless of whether they make arrangements through travel agencies or organise their trips independently.
Club warns supporters against defying directive
Espérance reiterated its call for supporters to comply with the decision, stressing that those who travel despite the warning would do so without the club assuming responsibility for their arrangements.
The October 18 fixture will see Al-Swehly host the Tunisian side at Misrata Stadium, with both teams seeking an advantage in the first leg of their second preliminary-round tie.
Espérance’s warning places the focus on the arrangements for travelling supporters ahead of the match, as the club maintains its position over the rejected ticket allocation.
The Tunisian club has urged its fans to respect the directive and stay away from Libya for the encounter.
