Romain Saiss is reportedly close to joining Marseille on a free transfer.
The experienced Morocco defender has been without a contract since leaving Qatari club Al Sadd in July. Saiss is also listed as a player of Al Shabab.
Moroccan website Hesport reported that the 35-year-old is now nearing a move to the French club as a free agent.
Marseille are looking to strengthen their defence with a player who can bring experience to the back line. The presence of fellow Morocco international Nayef Aguerd in the club’s defence is understood to have increased the likelihood of Saiss making the move.
Saiss was close to joining Marseille in the summer of 2023, but ultimately chose to sign for Al Sadd.
The defender has also played for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab. He has won 86 international caps for Morocco.
