Chelsea agree €55m deal to sign Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara

Chelsea have agreed a €55m deal with Monaco to sign Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara before the summer transfer window closes.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the Premier League club has completed an agreement with the French side for the young midfielder.

Camara is now undergoing a medical ahead of the deal being formally announced. Chelsea have moved for the 21-year-old after failing to complete a move for Roma midfielder Manu Kone, who also represents France.

The transfer is intended to compensate for the departure of Enzo Fernandez, who is set to join Manchester City.

Chelsea’s agreement with Monaco represents a significant late move in the summer window, with the club turning to Camara after their pursuit of Kone proved unsuccessful. The Senegal international has therefore become the preferred midfield addition as Chelsea prepare for Fernandez’s exit.

Although the financial terms have been agreed, the transfer still requires Camara to complete his medical before Chelsea can officially confirm the signing. The club have not yet formally announced the move.

Romano’s report indicates that negotiations between Chelsea and Monaco have concluded with a fee of €55m for Camara. The midfielder’s medical is the remaining step mentioned before the deal can be completed publicly.

Camara’s arrival would give Chelsea a new option in midfield following the expected move involving Fernandez and Manchester City. His proposed transfer also marks the end of Chelsea’s efforts to recruit Kone from Roma, with the London club instead securing an agreement for Monaco’s Senegalese midfielder.

The deal comes with the summer transfer deadline approaching, increasing the importance of completing the medical and finalising the administrative details. Chelsea are now waiting for that process to be concluded before confirming Camara as their latest signing.

Monaco will receive €55m for the player under the agreement reported by Romano. For Chelsea, the move provides a replacement for Fernandez while also bringing in a young midfielder from the French club.

No official announcement has yet been made, but Camara’s medical means the transfer has entered its final stage. Once that process is completed, Chelsea will be able to confirm the signing formally.
