Manchester City complete €75m deadline-day move for Iliman Ndiaye

Manchester City have signed Senegal winger Iliman Ndiaye from Everton in a deal worth €75m, including bonuses, with the transfer completed on Tuesday evening just hours before the English transfer window closed.

The 26-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the Sky Blues, ending his two-year spell at Everton. Ndiaye joined the Toffees from Olympique de Marseille in 2024 for a fee of about €20m, having represented the French club during the 2023/24 season.

His move to Manchester concludes a late change of direction in the transfer market. Ndiaye had initially been expected to join Tottenham, but Manchester City stepped up their efforts during the final hours of the window and persuaded both Everton and the player to complete the agreement.

The transfer gives Ndiaye the opportunity to continue his development within one of Europe’s most ambitious clubs and to compete for a place in a squad packed with high-level talent. Al Hilal had also shown interest in the Senegal international in recent weeks, alongside Tottenham, according to exclusive information reported by Africafoot.

Ndiaye’s departure will also bring a financial return to Marseille. The Ligue 1 club is expected to receive about €5m because of a clause included in the agreement that took the player from Olympique de Marseille to Everton in 2024.

That arrangement gave Marseille a 10% share of any profit Everton made on a future sale. With the current transfer valued at approximately €75m, Everton’s gain on the deal is estimated at around €55m. The clause therefore entitles Marseille to a substantial additional payment.

Ndiaye’s Everton record

During his time at Everton, Ndiaye gradually established himself as an important attacking player. He made 67 Premier League appearances for the club and scored 15 goals.

Manchester City will now provide a significantly more demanding environment, with Ndiaye facing strong competition for opportunities in attack. His arrival represents another major step in his career and could help him establish himself among the leading attacking players in European football.
