Bournemouth sign Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio on season-long loan

Bournemouth have signed Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent for a reported fee of 14m euros.

The 29-year-old Italian has left Juventus after falling out of favour at the club, with his position weakened by a series of mistakes last season and further errors during pre-season.

Di Gregorio spent two seasons with Juventus, but the club decided he was no longer part of their plans following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign in which he failed to reach the expected standard.

He made 84 appearances for the Italian club, conceding 84 goals and keeping 36 clean sheets.

The move gives Bournemouth another goalkeeper after Alex Paulsen joined Motherwell on loan and Christos Mandas returned to Lazio at the end of his loan spell.

Bournemouth began the current season with Djordje Petrovic in goal for their match against Manchester City. The club are also preparing for European competition after finishing sixth in the Premier League last season, a result that secured their place in the Europa League.

Di Gregorio’s departure is part of a wider reshaping of Juventus’ goalkeeping options. The Turin club have brought in Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham on loan, with an option to buy, and are also close to completing a deal for Kamil Grabara from Wolfsburg.

Juventus are understood to have recently finalised the agreement for Vicario, who will join on a temporary basis with the Italian club retaining the right to sign him permanently.

At the same time, Mattia Perin is nearing a move to Palermo in Serie B, further reducing the number of goalkeepers competing for places at Juventus.

Di Gregorio joined Juventus two seasons ago and went on to make 84 appearances for the club. However, recurring mistakes in the previous campaign, including during preparations for the new season, led Juventus to look for alternatives.

Bournemouth’s decision to recruit him provides head coach Andoni Iraola’s side with additional experience as they prepare to compete in the Premier League and Europa League. His loan includes the possibility of a permanent transfer if Bournemouth choose to activate the 14m-euro purchase option.

The deal also allows Juventus to continue rebuilding their goalkeeping department around Vicario and potentially Grabara, while Perin’s expected move to Palermo and Di Gregorio’s switch to England create further movement among the club’s senior goalkeepers.
