Atletico Madrid assess Nicolo Tresoldi as Barcelona-linked striker emerges in Belgium

Atletico Madrid are monitoring Nicolo Tresoldi’s situation at Club Brugge, with the Germany international also attracting interest from Barcelona.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Atletico could consider a move for the 22-year-old forward as uncertainty continues around Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth has yet to fully convince the Madrid club.

Tresoldi has made a striking start to the season and is now regarded as one of the most prominent young forwards in the transfer market. The Club Brugge striker has scored in every match since the beginning of the Belgian league campaign, establishing himself as the focal point of the club’s attack.

His current form is not being viewed as a short-lived burst of confidence. Tresoldi played a decisive part in Club Brugge’s title-winning campaign last season and finished as the competition’s leading scorer with 19 goals.

That achievement made him the leading marksman at one of Belgium’s most successful clubs while he was still 21, and his performances have continued to draw attention from leading European sides.

Barcelona are also understood to be considering Tresoldi as a possible answer to their concerns in attack. The Catalan club’s need for a forward has helped place the German among the names being assessed, while Atletico’s own uncertainty over their striking options could lead to increased interest from Diego Simeone’s side.

The situation surrounding Alvarez is described as complicated, while Sørloth has not yet done enough to secure a firm position in Atletico’s plans. Those factors could encourage the Spanish club to explore the possibility of signing Tresoldi, although no move has been confirmed.

Tresoldi’s market value is estimated at €25m by Transfermarkt. However, Club Brugge are not expected to consider selling him for less than €45m.

The forward remains under contract with the Belgian club until June 2029, giving Club Brugge a strong negotiating position should interest from Atletico Madrid or Barcelona develop into formal bids.

Tresoldi’s emergence follows a season in which he moved from promising young attacker to one of the defining forwards in Belgian football. His goalscoring record, combined with his age and long-term contract, has made him an increasingly valuable asset for Club Brugge.

For Atletico, the player’s progress offers a potential route to strengthen their attack as they assess the futures and form of Alvarez and Sørloth. For Barcelona, he represents another possible solution to the club’s striker problem. Both clubs are therefore watching closely as the German’s rapid rise continues.
