Transfer news

Young Inter Milan defender Yvan Maye is close to leaving the club for Serie A rivals Monza, with the two sides reportedly nearing an agreement for the 2006-born player.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal will see the French defender of Ivorian descent moving to Monza on loan with an option to buy.

The defender is preparing to make the switch to Brianza after making an early impact for Inter Under-23s this season.

Maye catches the eye in Serie C

Maye scored Inter Under-23s’ opening goal in their Serie C match against Catania on the opening weekend.

His goal gave the Nerazzurri a 1-0 lead before they eventually completed a 2-1 comeback victory.

The performance has come as the young defender continues his development within Inter’s system.

Monza seek reinforcements

The proposed move would give Maye the opportunity to gain further experience in senior football while strengthening Monza’s squad.

The clubs were able to discuss the potential transfer following their meeting at San Siro on Saturday, according to Di Marzio.

Monza manager Ivan Juric has indicated that the club still need further additions before the transfer window closes, with reinforcements required to improve the squad’s quality and their prospects of avoiding relegation.

Deal close to completion

Negotiations between Inter and Monza are understood to be at an advanced stage, with the loan agreement including an option for the latter to make Maye’s move permanent.

The young defender is now expected to continue his career in Serie A as Monza look to strengthen their squad during the final days of the transfer window.
