Napoli’s hopes of signing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson have become more complicated, with the Italian club facing Chelsea’s demand for a permanent transfer.

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna remains a strong admirer of the Senegal international, but Chelsea’s stance over the transfer formula could make a deal difficult to complete.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has urged caution over reports linking Jackson with a move to Serie A, saying the key issue is Chelsea’s refusal to consider a loan.

Chelsea want permanent deal

Romano said Manna’s interest in Jackson is not new but stressed that Chelsea’s position remains the main obstacle to a transfer.

“Manna’s interest in Jackson is news for 2025,” Romano said.

The transfer expert added: “Chelsea aren’t offering loans and are insisting on a permanent deal.”

That requirement could force Napoli to make a significant financial commitment if they are to bring the Senegal forward to Italy.

Jackson has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea’s preference for a permanent sale means Napoli’s interest may depend on whether they can meet the English club’s valuation.

Atletico Madrid also interested

Napoli are not the only club monitoring the situation.

Romano revealed that Atletico Madrid are actively pursuing the striker, while Aston Villa could also enter the race if Ollie Watkins leaves for Al-Hilal.

“Chelsea have Atletico Madrid calling every day,” Romano said.

The competition for Jackson could make it even more difficult for Napoli, particularly if rival clubs are prepared to make a permanent offer.

Napoli face battle for Senegal striker

Romano believes Napoli currently occupy a less favourable position than some of Jackson’s other suitors because of the financial demands involved.

“There are teams ready to buy him or at least offer significantly more favorable deals than the loans our clubs can offer,” Romano concluded.

For Napoli, the next step will be to determine whether they can meet Chelsea’s conditions for a permanent transfer.

Until then, the future of the Senegal international remains uncertain, with Atletico Madrid and potentially Aston Villa providing alternative destinations.
