Bayer Leverkusen prepare bumper contract for Cameroon forward Christian Kofane

Bayer Leverkusen are close to securing the long-term future of Cameroonian striker Christian Kofane, with the Bundesliga club reportedly nearing an agreement on a new contract until 2031.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise since joining Leverkusen from Spanish side Albacete in the summer of 2025, attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.

According to Bild, negotiations between Leverkusen and Kofane’s representatives are nearing completion, with the proposed deal expected to significantly improve the young forward’s salary.

New long-term deal close

Kofane’s new contract is reportedly set to run until 2031, with the Cameroonian expected to earn around four million euros per year.

The report also states that the proposed agreement will not include a release clause, underlining Leverkusen’s determination to retain control over the striker’s future.

The Bundesliga club are acting quickly following Kofane’s impressive development and growing interest from some of Europe’s leading clubs.

Rapid rise for Cameroonian striker

Kofane joined Leverkusen from Albacete for 5.25 million euros and quickly established himself as an important member of the squad.

Last season, the 20-year-old made 44 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists.

His performances have raised his profile across Europe, particularly in England, where Arsenal, Newcastle United, Everton and Aston Villa have reportedly expressed interest.

Leverkusen determined to keep Kofane

Despite the growing attention surrounding the Cameroon forward, Leverkusen are not prepared to sanction an early departure.

The club reportedly view Kofane as a player capable of commanding a future transfer fee in excess of 100 million euros if his development continues.

A new long-term contract would therefore represent a significant step for both Leverkusen and the young Cameroonian, who is rapidly emerging as one of Africa’s most promising attacking talents in European football.
