Ferran Torres transfer: Paris Saint-Germain hopeful of sealing Barcelona forward’s move this week

Paris Saint-Germain are working to complete the signing of Barcelona forward Ferran Torres during the summer transfer window, with confidence growing at the French club that an agreement can be reached quickly.

Well-known journalist Mateo Moretto reported on X that Paris Saint-Germain want to accelerate negotiations for Torres during the current week.

“Paris Saint-Germain wants to accelerate negotiations to sign Ferran Torres during this week,” Moretto wrote.

He added: “The French club is seeking to complete an agreement with Barcelona and believes the deal could be concluded quickly. There is optimism within the French club about signing Torres.”

The Ligue 1 club’s interest comes as Torres has left the door open to speculation about his future. The Spain international was asked about the possibility of moving to Paris Saint-Germain while appearing in the United States as part of a promotional event with sportswear company Under Armour.

Torres was interviewed on the Today programme, broadcast by NBC, and was questioned about the reported interest from the French club.

The forward first stressed that he remains under contract with Barcelona. In response to the question about a possible move to Paris Saint-Germain, Torres said: “At the moment, I have a contract with Barcelona.”

However, he then made a further comment that prompted renewed attention to his future.

“But honestly, in football, no one knows what can happen,” Torres said.

That remark has added to the expectation surrounding Paris Saint-Germain’s efforts to reach an agreement with Barcelona. The French club now hopes discussions can move swiftly, while Moretto’s report indicates that there is belief within the club that the transfer could be resolved in the near future.

Torres is currently in the United States for his Under Armour promotional commitments. His comments during the NBC interview provided the latest indication that he is not ruling out a change of club, despite confirming his present contractual link with Barcelona.

The forward, who scored the goal that gave Spain their second World Cup title, has therefore become the focus of growing transfer speculation during the summer market. Paris Saint-Germain are now attempting to turn their interest into a completed deal, with negotiations with Barcelona expected to be accelerated this week.

For now, Torres remains a Barcelona player and has not confirmed that he wants to leave. But his acknowledgment that football can produce unexpected developments has encouraged Paris Saint-Germain, who believe the move to the Parc des Princes may be possible.
