Olakunle Olusegun: Nigeria winger at Krasnodar linked with move to Rostov in Russian Premier League shake-up

Nigeria winger Olakunle Olusegun is being linked with a move from Russian champions Krasnodar to Premier League rivals Rostov as clubs across the division shape their squads for the new campaign.

The 24-year-old left winger, who is under contract at Krasnodar until 30 June 2028, has emerged as a target for Rostov after establishing himself with more than 100 top-flight appearances in Russia. He has played 105 times in the Premier Liga, scoring 15 goals and adding 11 assists, having first arrived at Krasnodar in 2022.

Olusegun spent last season on loan at fellow Premier Liga side Pari NN before returning to Krasnodar at the end of the campaign. His parent club regained his registration on 30 June 2026, but his future is now uncertain amid interest from within the division.

Krasnodar invested in the winger when they signed him from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv in July 2022 for €1.2m, and his current market value is listed at €2.5m. He has since been part of a Krasnodar squad that went on to win the Russian title in 2025, adding domestic silverware to his record.

Born in Ilorin, Kwara, the 1.67m wide player operates primarily on the left but prefers his right foot, a profile that may appeal to Rostov as they seek additional attacking options. For now, Olusegun remains a Krasnodar player with two years left on his deal, leaving the club in a strong position should formal negotiations with Rostov develop.
