Rayane Bounida: Ajax’s Belgian-Moroccan playmaker linked with Borussia Monchengladbach move

Ajax attacking midfielder Rayane Bounida, the Belgian-Moroccan 20-year-old, is being linked with a summer move to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Ajax youngster, who operates primarily in an advanced midfield role, is under contract in Amsterdam until 30 June 2028, meaning any deal would require the German club to negotiate a fee rather than explore a free transfer. Bounida is currently valued at around €5m, a figure that is likely to frame early discussions over his future.

Interest from Monchengladbach comes as the Bundesliga club continue to look to younger technical players to refresh their attacking options. For Ajax, the situation poses a decision over whether to cash in on a player with several years remaining on his deal or to keep him as part of their medium-term plans.

Bounida holds both Moroccan and Belgian nationality, adding a further dimension to his profile as clubs monitor his development at senior level. While he remains in the early stages of his top-flight career, his role at Ajax has been significant enough to attract attention from one of Germany’s leading leagues.

With no agreement in place and Bounida tied to Ajax for another two seasons beyond the coming campaign, the Dutch club retain a strong negotiating position, and any potential move to Monchengladbach is expected to hinge on whether an offer matches their valuation of the attacking midfielder.
