Vivaldo Semedo: Portugal-Angola forward joins Alverca on loan from Watford
Portugal-Angola striker Vivaldo Semedo has joined Alverca on loan from Watford, giving the Portuguese side a powerful new option at centre-forward for the 2026-27 campaign.
The 21-year-old, born in Luanda and standing at 1.94m, moves back to Portugal on a temporary deal after a season in the Championship with Watford. The loan runs until 30 June 2027, when he is scheduled to return to the English club.
Semedo, a left-footed centre-forward, arrives with experience across several European leagues despite his age. He featured in the Championship for Watford last season, adding English football to a CV that already includes appearances in Serie A with Udinese, the Eredivisie with FC Volendam and Liga Portugal 2 with Vizela.
His most productive spell so far came in Portugal’s second tier, where he scored nine goals and contributed four assists in 25 matches, underlining his effectiveness at that level. Across his senior career he has also played domestic cup football in England and Italy, as well as youth and reserve competitions in Italy.
Semedo first moved abroad from Sporting’s youth system to join Udinese’s academy in 2022, later progressing to their first team before a series of loans helped him build senior experience. Watford then secured his services from Udinese ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Alverca have secured Semedo on loan for the entire 2026-27 season, with his contract at the Portuguese club running until 30 June 2027.
