Ahmed Touba: Spartak Moscow linked with move for Panathinaikos defender

Algeria-Belgium centre-back Ahmed Touba of Panathinaikos is reportedly attracting interest from Russian Premier Liga side Spartak Moscow as uncertainty grows over his long-term future in Greece.

The 28-year-old, valued at €2.50m on Transfermarkt, is listed without a confirmed contract expiry date at Panathinaikos, prompting suggestions he could become a free agent in the near future if no extension is agreed. For now, the link to Spartak remains at rumour level, with the reported probability of a deal going through still marked as “?”.

Touba, who was born in Roubaix on 13 March 1998 and stands at 1.90m, has built a reputation as a left-footed, ball-playing centre-back. Comfortable in the heart of defence, he has represented both Algeria and Belgium at different stages of his career and holds dual nationality, a profile that has often appealed to clubs looking for versatility in registration slots.

The Panathinaikos No 5 has been a regular in the Super League 1, featuring most recently in the Athens club’s league campaign, including their June fixtures, where he continued to anchor the back line in a tightly contested domestic run-in. In his latest outing, he helped Panathinaikos to a clean sheet in a narrow league win, underlining the aerial presence and composure that have underpinned his current valuation.

Panathinaikos, competing in Greece’s top flight, have yet to publicly clarify their stance on a potential sale or on whether they intend to tie the defender down to a longer-term deal, leaving room for speculation about a cut-price exit or even a free transfer scenario.

A move to Spartak Moscow would offer Touba a fresh platform in Russia’s Premier Liga and could mark the next decisive chapter in his career, with the prospect of European competition and a new tactical environment likely to shape his reputation and long-term trajectory if the transfer materialises.
