Haris Toholin is increasingly establishing himself within Angers SCO’s long-term plans, as the club’s U19 side continue their impressive push towards the National U19 Championship title.

Angers’ youth team have secured qualification for the playoffs with two matches still remaining in the regular season, underlining a campaign built on consistency and defensive stability.

Their recent 3-0 victory away at Poitiers extended their unbeaten run and strengthened their position at the top of the group with 61 points from 22 matches without defeat.

The run has placed Angers among the leading contenders for the national crown, with confidence growing inside the squad ahead of the decisive phase of the season.

At the centre of their defensive strength has been Toholin, the 18-year-old centre-back who has played a significant role throughout the campaign.

he Franco-Beninese defender has made 17 appearances for the U19 side while also featuring five times for the reserve team, reflecting his growing importance across different levels of the club.

In addition to his defensive duties, Toholin has contributed offensively, scoring twice in key moments this season and further highlighting his all-round development.

His progress has not gone unnoticed by the club, with the young defender now regularly involved in training sessions with the first team.

That step is viewed internally as a significant milestone, with expectations that he could be fully integrated into the senior setup in the near future.

However, his development has also required careful management. According to reports, Toholin had hoped to join a Benin youth national team training camp in May, but Angers have prioritised the U19 playoff campaign, meaning he will remain with the squad as they pursue domestic success.

With the playoffs approaching and a potential place in next season’s UEFA Youth League at stake, Angers are expected to rely heavily on their defensive stability — and on players like Toholin, who continue to rise through the ranks.
