Besiktas deal gives Juventus room to pursue Franck Kessie

Juventus are preparing to let Fabio Miretti join Besiktas on loan, a move that could create the squad space needed to sign former AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie during the summer transfer window.

The Turkish club have reached an agreement with Juventus for Miretti, according to Football Italia, which cited Tuttomercatoweb. The proposed deal includes an option for Besiktas to buy the Italy international for €15m.

Miretti is expected to travel to Turkey in the coming hours to undergo a medical before completing the move and signing his contract with Besiktas.

The midfielder’s departure would allow Juventus to make room for Kessie, who currently plays for Al-Ahli Saudi FC and has previously represented Milan. Kessie has reportedly favoured a move to Turin for several weeks.

Juventus are expected to pursue the Ivorian on a free transfer once he leaves Al-Ahli Saudi FC. However, the Italian club must first free up a place in their squad, making Miretti’s transfer to Besiktas an important condition for the proposed deal to progress.

Miretti came through Juventus’ academy and has featured intermittently for the first team. He also spent part of last season on loan at Genoa, gaining further experience away from the club where he began his career.

The 22-year-old was not involved in Juventus’ 1-0 victory over Frosinone on Sunday. Manager Luciano Spalletti selected Manuel Locatelli and Douglas Luiz in midfield, before introducing Teun Koopmeiners as a substitute.

Miretti’s move would form part of an active period of recruitment between Besiktas and Italian clubs. The Turkish side have already completed the signing of Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus on a free transfer.

Besiktas are also close to signing Ernest Poku after his proposed move to Fiorentina stalled. In addition, the club have submitted an improved offer for Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis.

For Juventus, the immediate focus is on finalising Miretti’s departure before turning fully to Kessie. The midfielder’s exit would provide the club with the required space to advance negotiations for the former Milan player, who is expected to become available without a transfer fee after leaving Al-Ahli Saudi FC.
