Tottenham join race for Algeria forward Amine Gouiri
Tottenham Hotspur have joined Napoli in the race to sign Algerian international Amine Gouiri from Marseille before the summer transfer window closes.
According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, the Premier League club are considering a move for the 26-year-old forward as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
Gouiri is among several Marseille players who could leave the Stade Vélodrome before the end of the transfer window as the French club look to raise funds to meet financial requirements imposed by the DNCG.
Gouiri attracting interest after productive Marseille season
Marseille could be willing to listen to offers for some of their more valuable players, with Gouiri viewed as one of the squad members capable of generating a significant transfer fee.
The Algeria international enjoyed a productive campaign last season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 22 Ligue 1 appearances.
His performances have now attracted interest from clubs in both England and Italy as the transfer deadline approaches.
Napoli also targeting Algerian forward
Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit of Gouiri, with Serie A champions Napoli also monitoring the situation.
The Italian club are looking for additional attacking options and have identified the Marseille forward as one of their potential targets.
With only one week remaining in the transfer window, Marseille face a decision over whether to retain Gouiri or accept an offer for the Algeria international as they attempt to balance their squad and financial obligations.
For Gouiri, a move to either Tottenham or Napoli would represent another significant step in his career and provide the Algerian forward with an opportunity to test himself in another of Europe’s major leagues.
