Captain of AS FAR, Mohamed Rabie Harimat, has expressed overwhelming joy and pride after earning his first-ever Morocco call-up ahead of the upcoming international friendlies.

The midfielder’s inclusion comes as part of preparations for Morocco’s test matches against Ecuador and Paraguay, scheduled for March 27 and 31 respectively, as the Atlas Lions continue fine-tuning their squad for future competitions.

Speaking in an interview with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Harimat could not hide his emotions after finally achieving a lifelong ambition.

“I feel immense pride and honor after being called up to wear the national team jersey. Since I was a child, I have aspired to reach this moment, and today I can say that my dream has come true,” he said.

The FAR Rabat skipper went on to recount the unforgettable moment he received the news, revealing that he was with his club in Cairo at the time.

“I learned of my inclusion in the national squad while I was with my team in Cairo. It was a moment that filled my family and me with indescribable happiness. I sincerely hope to live up to expectations and make the desired contribution alongside this elite group of talented players,” he added.

Harimat also praised the welcoming atmosphere within the national team camp, highlighting the unity and camaraderie among the players.

“The atmosphere within the camp is excellent. I received a warm welcome from my teammates, who greeted me like family. This reflects their high morals. Since we already share good relationships and know each other, settling in has been easy,” he noted.

His call-up reflects the technical bench’s continued effort to reward consistent performances in domestic football, while also strengthening squad depth with players who understand the national team’s identity.

With Morocco set to face Ecuador in Madrid before taking on Paraguay in Lens, Harimat will be eager to seize his opportunity and leave a lasting impression as the Atlas Lions build momentum ahead of key international assignments.
