Morocco face Argentina with Women’s Under-17 World Cup place at stake

Morocco meet Argentina on Friday in their final Group A fixture at the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup, with qualification for the last 16 on the line.

Youness Rabie’s side still control their own fate before the third and final round of group matches. The Atlas Lionesses and Argentina both have three points, but Morocco sit second because they have the better goal difference.

The match will begin at 20:00 France time, or 18:00 in Morocco, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale.

Viewers in France can watch the game for free on FIFA+ via DAZN. In Morocco, beIN Sports will also show the match, although a subscription is required.

Morocco began their campaign with an impressive 4-0 victory over New Zealand, putting them in a strong position in the group. However, they were beaten 4-2 by Germany in their second game.

The Moroccan team fell 4-0 behind against Germany before mounting a late response. Nessma Mouradi scored both goals, finding the net in the 64th minute and again from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of added time.

Morocco must avoid defeat against Argentina to reach the last 16. A win or a draw will be enough to secure their qualification, while a loss would leave their hopes in danger.

Argentina are newcomers to the competition, giving Morocco the advantage of greater experience at this level. The Atlas Lionesses must now turn that experience into a result on the pitch.

The encounter brings together two teams level on points, with the outcome set to determine which of them progresses from Group A alongside Germany. New Zealand are also in the section, while Morocco will be looking to build on their opening victory after the setback against the Germans.

For Rabie’s players, the game represents both a decisive test and an opportunity to complete the group stage among the teams advancing to the knockout rounds. Their stronger goal difference means they begin the final round in second place, but Argentina remain level on points and can overtake them with a positive result.

Morocco’s qualification position therefore remains straightforward: they need only share the points or claim another victory. Argentina, meanwhile, will be seeking to make their first appearance at the tournament a successful one by taking the place currently held by their opponents.
