Maghnes Akliouche is allowing himself to dream, and Monaco’s rising playmaker knows exactly what he wants next: a place with France at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Having been called up for Les Bleus during the last three international breaks of 2025, the 22-year-old feels his club form has opened a genuine pathway to the biggest stage.

In an interview with AFP, Akliouche admitted he is ambitious but remains grounded about what it will take. “I’ve got a chance if Monaco and I perform well at the end of the season,” he said, underlining how much he links his personal dream to the team’s results. His vision is crystal clear too: “My goal is to be in the United States! If I go, the next goal will be to play, to perform well, to make a difference. World champion? Of course! We all say that.”

On current evidence, his optimism is well founded. Akliouche has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s standout French midfielders this season, recording six goals and seven assists in 34 matches for Monaco, form that keeps his World Cup hopes very much alive.
