Elye Wahi returns to Nice on loan from Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have sent Elye Wahi back to France, with the striker joining OGC Nice on another season-long loan.

The agreement reportedly includes an option for Nice to sign the 23-year-old permanently for €18 million.

Frankfurt signed Wahi from Marseille in January 2025 for €26 million, hoping he could replace Omar Marmoush. However, the forward struggled to reproduce his best form in the Bundesliga, scoring only once in 24 competitive appearances for the German club.

That disappointing spell led Frankfurt to loan him to Nice during the second half of last season. The move proved beneficial, as Wahi quickly rediscovered his confidence and looked far more comfortable on the French Riviera. Nice have now decided to keep him for another campaign, giving the striker an opportunity to build on that revival.

Frankfurt had initially hoped to sell Wahi permanently this summer and reportedly placed a €20 million price tag on him. With no financially suitable offers arriving for the right-footed attacker, both clubs instead agreed on another temporary arrangement.

The loan could eventually lead to a permanent transfer if Wahi maintains his improved performances. For now, Nice gain a familiar attacking option, while Frankfurt receive another chance to improve the player’s value and move closer to ending an underwhelming chapter.
