Issouf Macalou: U Cluj right winger linked with FCSB move in Romania transfer rumours

FCSB eye move for U Cluj winger Issouf Macalou in potential SuperLiga switch

FCSB have been linked with a move for U Cluj right winger Issouf Macalou as the Bucharest club explore attacking options ahead of the next transfer window.

The 27‑year‑old, who holds dual nationality with Côte d’Ivoire and France, is currently valued at €650,000, according to Transfermarkt, with his market value having risen steadily since joining Universitatea Cluj from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard on 21 January 2025. The reported probability of a deal remains unclear, with the move listed as “?” at this stage. Contract details at U Cluj are not publicly disclosed, raising the prospect that Macalou could become a free agent or be available at a reduced fee if his current agreement is nearing its end.

A left‑footed winger standing at 1.87m, Macalou has become a notable presence in Romania’s SuperLiga after spells across the French system. He previously represented Valenciennes, Le Mans, Red Star, Louhans‑Cuiseaux, GOAL FC and Sochaux, playing in Ligue 2 and the French lower divisions before making the switch to Romania.

Macalou’s form in Cluj has coincided with a sharp rise in his valuation, climbing from €200,000 at Sochaux in December 2024 to €500,000 by June 2025 and then €650,000 by December 2025. That trajectory has drawn attention from domestic rivals, with FCSB now credited with interest as they look to bolster their wide options.

In recent SuperLiga action, Macalou has continued to feature on the right flank for U Cluj, using his pace and direct running to stretch defences, performances which have underpinned the latest speculation.

Should a move to FCSB materialise, it would mark the biggest step of Macalou’s career to date and could offer a platform in European competition, potentially reshaping his reputation within Romanian football and reopening pathways to higher‑profile leagues.
