Dermane Karim makes Troyes move after breakthrough season with Lorient

ESTAC Troyes have completed the signing of Togo international midfielder Dermane Karim, who has agreed a contract with the French club until June 2029.

The 22-year-old joins Troyes after an encouraging 2025/26 campaign with FC Lorient, where he established himself in Ligue 1 and made 33 appearances in all competitions. He played 30 times in France’s top flight and scored twice during his season with the club.

Karim’s move represents the latest step in a career which began at Academie Planete Foot in Togo. Born in Sokode, he moved to Feyenoord in 2022 before continuing his development in Belgium.

He spent time at Lommel, making 43 appearances in the Challenger Pro League. During that spell, the midfielder scored three goals and supplied six assists. His performances earned him an opportunity to play in the Jupiler Pro League, where he featured for KV Kortrijk.

Karim then moved to FC Lorient on loan for the 2025/26 season and made a strong impression in French football. His ability to remain composed under pressure, combined with his mobility and technical quality, helped him gradually secure a regular place at elite level.

That season also marked a significant stage in his international career. Karim has represented Togo since 2022 and has already won 29 caps for the national team, known as the Eperviers.

He will now continue his development at ESTAC Troyes, with his long-term agreement running through to June 2029. The club will hope the midfielder can build on his progress at FC Lorient and become an important part of its project.

Karim’s arrival gives Troyes a player with experience across France’s top division and Belgian football, as well as an established international background at the age of 22. His performances at Lorient provided the platform for the move, after a pathway that has taken him from Academie Planete Foot to Feyenoord, Lommel and KV Kortrijk.

The midfielder will now look to confirm his upward trajectory in Troyes colours and establish himself as one of the key figures in the club’s plans.
