French outfit Stade Rennes have resolved to terminate the contract of Franco-Senegalese tactician Habib Beye following the club’s inconsistent performance.
The 48-year manager has struggled to grind results, losing four games on the bounce, and prompting the club’s decision to sever ties with the coach. Rennes’ 3-1 defeat against RC Lens at the weekend proved to be the final straw for Beye.
Before this defeat, Rennes had succumbed to a 4-0 defeat to struggling Monaco before being dumped out of the Coupe de France by Olympique de Marseille in midweek (3-0).
“Stade Rennais F.C. have initiated a procedure against its head coach, M. Habib Beye, and his assistants, M. Olivier Saragaglia, M. Sébastien Bichard and M. Yann Cavezza.
Pending an upcoming decision, the first team’s training sessions will be overseen by Sébastien Tambouret, Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre and Maxime Le Marchand until further notice” a statement from the club reads.
Beye experienced a torrid start to the season, but managed to salvage the situation along the line. Amid recent poor showing, the decision has now been taken to sack him this time.
Currently, Stade Rennes find themselves in the sixth position with 31 points after 21 matches into the French Ligue 1 campaign.
The Franco-Senegalese, who joined Rennes in January 2025 leaves the club with former Lens and OGC Nice manager Franck Haise expected to take up the vacant coaching job.
The Franco-Senegalese gaffer leaves the French Ligue 1 outfit alongside his assistants despite having a contract until June 2026.
