Portsmouth bring in Comoros-France midfielder Iyad Mohamed from Casa Pia

Comoros-France midfielder Iyad Mohamed has joined Portsmouth from Portuguese side Casa Pia, strengthening the Championship club’s options in defensive midfield.

The 25-year-old has signed a contract with Portsmouth running until 30 June 2029. Mohamed, who is left-footed, wears the position of a holding midfielder and joins the English club after 18 months in Portugal.

Mohamed moved to Casa Pia from French club Pau FC in February 2025. That transfer was completed for €100,000, and he spent the following season with the Lisbon-based side in Liga Portugal.

He had not featured for Casa Pia in the opening three possible league matches of the 2026-27 campaign before switching to Portsmouth. His move to England was completed on 27 August 2026.

Born in Dunkerque, Mohamed holds Comoros and French nationality. He began his youth career with Dunkerque before joining the Lille academy in 2016. He returned to Dunkerque’s youth system two years later and moved to AJ Auxerre in 2019.

The midfielder progressed through Auxerre’s academy and reserve team before joining SM Caen in July 2022. He later spent part of the 2022-23 season on loan at Le Mans FC, returning to Caen at the end of that campaign.

Mohamed then moved to Pau FC in July 2023, where he continued his senior career before transferring to Casa Pia. His route to Portsmouth has therefore taken him from the French youth system through clubs in France and Portugal.

At 1.91 metres, Mohamed adds physical presence to Portsmouth’s midfield. The club have secured his services on a deal that keeps him at Fratton Park through the end of the 2028-29 season.

Mohamed’s career record includes experience in both French football and Liga Portugal, while his move represents a change of country and league as he begins his Portsmouth career.

The transfer was completed on 27 August, with Mohamed leaving Casa Pia to join Portsmouth on a contract until June 2029.
