Gillingham sign Gambian forward Lamin Sillah from Nottingham U21 on loan

Gillingham have signed Gambian centre-forward Lamin Sillah from Nottingham U21 on a season-long loan, with the 20-year-old joining the League Two club until 31 May 2027.

Sillah completed the move on 27 August 2026, switching from Nottingham’s under-21 side, which competes in Premier League 2, to Gillingham. The agreement runs through the 2026-27 campaign, after which he is scheduled to return to Nottingham U21.

The forward joined Nottingham U21 from Olympiacos U19 in July 2025, having previously represented Steve Biko FC. His move to the Greek club in October 2024 was completed on a free transfer.

Sillah spent the 2024-25 season with Olympiacos U19 and was part of the side that won the Greek Under-19 championship. That honour is the first achievement recorded in his career.

He joins Gillingham as a centre-forward and provides the club with another attacking option for their League Two campaign. Sillah’s current playing record includes Premier League 2 and National League Cup football, although he has yet to make an appearance in either competition during the 2026-27 season.

The move gives Sillah his first spell with a senior club in the English league structure after his time in Nottingham’s development set-up. Gillingham’s League Two campaign represents a change in level and environment for the forward, who has developed through clubs in The Gambia, Greece and England.

His career began with Steve Biko FC before he moved to Olympiacos, where his team secured the Greek Under-19 title. He then continued his progression in England with Nottingham U21, making Gillingham his next destination.

The loan is due to end on 31 May 2027, when Sillah is set to return to Nottingham U21. Until then, the Gambian forward will be part of Gillingham’s squad for the remainder of the season.
