Cameroon defender Michael Ngadeu has completed a move from Beijing Guoan to fellow Chinese Super League side Chongqing Tonglianglong on a free transfer, signing a contract that runs from 2026-02-07 to 2027-12-31. The 35-year-old centre-back joins his new club with a current market value of €400k and extensive experience across several European and Asian leagues.
The deal keeps Ngadeu in the Chinese Super League, with Chongqing Tonglianglong securing an established right-footed central defender without paying a fee to Beijing Guoan. The transfer continues his late‑career stint abroad rather than a return to his home country Cameroon, underlining his status as a veteran export in Asian football rather than a domestic league figure.
Ngadeu arrives in Chongqing after nearly three years with Beijing Guoan, whom he joined from Belgian side KAA Gent. His switch marks the latest step in a career that has taken him from Canon Sportif de Yaoundé in Cameroon to lower-league German sides Kirchhörder SC, SV Sandhausen II and 1. FC Nürnberg II, then on to FC Botoșani in Romania, SK Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic, Gent in Belgium and finally China with Beijing Guoan.
The centre-back built his reputation in Europe, particularly at Slavia Prague and Gent, where his market value climbed as high as €5.5m during his peak years in Belgium. Over time, that valuation has gradually declined in line with age and the natural end of his prime, down to €400k during his spell with Beijing Guoan before this latest transfer.
Standing 1.90m tall and operating primarily as a central defender, Ngadeu has been used throughout his career for his aerial presence and physical strength. His move within the Chinese Super League suggests Chongqing Tonglianglong view him as an immediate, short-term solution to reinforce the heart of their defence, drawing on his extensive top-flight and international-level experience.
Ngadeu’s club history also shows a pattern of relatively long stays at key stages: two seasons with Botoșani, three with Slavia Prague and nearly four with Gent before his move to China. That record of stability may be significant for Chongqing Tonglianglong, who are bringing in a player accustomed to adapting to new leagues and cultures while maintaining a consistent role in defence.
With his contract already in place from 2026-02-07 to 2027-12-31, Ngadeu’s immediate future is clearly defined in China rather than Cameroon. The move offers him the chance to extend his career in a growing league, while giving Chongqing Tonglianglong a seasoned organiser at the back as they look to consolidate their position in the Super League. How effectively he translates his years of European and Chinese experience into performances for his new club will go a long way towards shaping the final chapter of his professional career.
