Barcelona agree deal for Dominik Livakovic with Fenerbahce, says Romano
Barcelona have completed an agreement to sign Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Turkish club Fenerbahce, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Livakovic will remain on loan at Fenerbahce for the rest of the current season before moving to Barcelona in the summer of 2027. The agreement is reportedly worth €2m in fixed payments, with a further €2m available in add-ons.
The Croatia international is expected to join Barcelona as a replacement for Wojciech Szczesny, whose contract with the Spanish club will expire at the end of the current campaign. Szczesny will leave Barcelona after the season, creating the need for a new goalkeeper in the squad.
Livakovic already has experience of Spanish football. He spent the 2025-26 season with Girona before returning to Turkey and continuing his career with Fenerbahce.
Since joining Fenerbahce, Livakovic has made 74 appearances. During those matches, he has conceded 80 goals and kept 24 clean sheets. His performances for the Turkish side have also maintained his position as an international goalkeeper for Croatia.
The agreement marks Barcelona’s latest move as the club prepares for the next stage of its squad planning. The Catalan side finished last season as champions of Spain after a closely fought title race with Real Madrid.
Barcelona are now preparing for the start of the new campaign. Their next fixture is against Elche on Sunday in the second round of the Spanish league.
The club’s opening-round match against Athletic Club was postponed and is scheduled to be played on Thursday, 27 August, at Camp Nou. The rearranged fixture will be Barcelona’s first match of the season before the side continues its league campaign.
While Livakovic will not arrive immediately, the agreement gives Barcelona a long-term plan for the position. He will continue with Fenerbahce during the current season, with his move to Barcelona scheduled for the summer of 2027.
Romano’s report confirms that the two clubs have finalised the transfer terms, including the fixed fee and performance-related additions. The deal will therefore allow Barcelona to prepare for Szczesny’s departure while leaving Livakovic at Fenerbahce until the agreed date.
The Croatian goalkeeper’s previous spell in Spain with Girona means he has already played in the country’s football system. His future move to Barcelona will bring him back to Spain after his time in Turkey, although he will remain with Fenerbahce for the current campaign before completing the transfer.
