Paul Mbong has completed a loan move from Serbian side FK Čukarički to Floriana FC, returning to Maltese football in a deal that runs from 2026-02-05 to 2026-06-30. The right winger joins the Premier League Closing Round side on a temporary basis, with the move registered as a loan transfer and no permanent fee disclosed.
The Malta- and Nigeria-qualified attacker arrives at Floriana with a current market valuation of €250k, as listed at the time of the switch. His deal confirms he will spend the remainder of the campaign in Malta before returning to his parent club in Serbia at the end of the loan, unless further agreements are reached at that stage.
Mbong, 24, moves back to his home country having only joined Čukarički from Birkirkara FC ahead of the same season. That earlier transfer took him from the Maltese Premier League to the Serbian Super Liga, marking his first move abroad after progressing through the Birkirkara system. Before breaking into senior football, he had been promoted from Birkirkara FC U19 to the first team, where he established himself sufficiently to earn his step up to Serbia.
Born in Marsaskala and standing 1.75 metres tall, Mbong is primarily deployed as an attacking right winger and favours his right foot. Over recent seasons his market value has been relatively stable, hovering around the €250k mark for much of his time at Birkirkara before briefly rising to €300k, and later being set again at €250k following his move to Čukarički.
The winger’s career path now shows a clear pattern: youth development at Birkirkara FC U19, promotion to Birkirkara’s senior squad, then a permanent move to Čukarički in the Serbian top flight, and now a confirmed loan to Floriana FC in Malta’s Premier League Closing Round. Once the loan expires on 2026-06-30, he is scheduled to return to Čukarički, meaning he is not on course to become a free agent at that point based on the current data.
Floriana gain a player with experience in two different top divisions, the Maltese Premier League and the Serbian Super Liga, and with dual Maltese and Nigerian nationality he also brings an international profile to their squad. The move ensures Mbong will now be competing again in Maltese domestic football while remaining under contract to a Serbian club, adding another chapter to a career already defined by steady progression through club and league levels.
