Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi will be unavailable for Paris Saint-Germain’s highly anticipated Classique clash against Olympique Marseille this weekend after the French league’s disciplinary committee handed him a suspension.
Ligue 1 leaders PSG host their fiercest rivals at the Parc des Princes on Sunday evening in the 21st round of the season, but Hakimi will be forced to watch from the stands.
The right-back also missed the most recent meeting between the two sides on January 8, when PSG faced Marseille in the Champions Cup in Kuwait, as he was away on international duty with Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Hakimi’s latest absence follows his dismissal in PSG’s previous league outing against Strasbourg. The Moroccan was shown a straight red card in the 75th minute after a heavy challenge, prompting disciplinary action.
In its ruling, the committee imposed a two-match ban, with one match to be served immediately and the other suspended. As a result, Hakimi will sit out the Marseille showdown but will be available again for PSG’s next fixture against Stade Rennais in round 22.
The suspension adds to Hakimi’s growing disciplinary record at the club. He has now been sent off four times for PSG — three straight red cards and one following two bookings — placing him among the most dismissed players in the club’s history. Only Daniel Bravo and Neymar Jr., both with five red cards, have been sent off more often.
Hakimi’s absence is a significant setback for head coach Luis Enrique, particularly given the importance of the Marseille match.
The encounter is widely regarded as PSG’s toughest domestic test of the season, with the Parisians currently holding a nine-point lead over their rivals after 20 rounds of Ligue 1 action.
