Omar Marmoush joins Tottenham on loan from Manchester City

Omar Marmoush has joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Manchester City, becoming the latest arrival in the club’s busy summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old Egypt international follows his former Manchester City team-mate Savinho in moving to north London as Tottenham continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Marmoush spent 18 months with City after joining the club, making 62 appearances in all competitions. During that period, the forward scored 16 goals and registered six assists.

He said he was delighted to begin a new chapter with Tottenham and suggested the club’s ambitions were central to his decision to make the move.

“It feels amazing to be here. I’m so excited to get started with the team, and I can’t wait to meet the fans,” Marmoush said.

“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me.

“I’ve spoken with the Head Coach, I loved what he had to say, and I’m sure our passion for the game will go very well together.”

Marmoush becomes one of a number of new faces at Tottenham this summer, with Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke, Martin Dubravka, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali also arriving at the club.

His move adds further competition and attacking quality to a Tottenham squad that has undergone significant change during the transfer window. Marmoush will now turn his attention to helping Spurs on the pitch as they prepare for their next Premier League fixture.

Tottenham’s next league match is against Newcastle United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, giving Marmoush an immediate opportunity to begin working with his new team and to experience his new home stadium.

The forward leaves Manchester City after an 18-month spell in which he made 62 appearances, scored 16 times and supplied six assists. He now joins Tottenham as the latest player to move to north London during a summer of considerable recruitment for the club.

His arrival also reunites him with Savinho, who has made the same move from City to Tottenham during the current transfer window.
