Göztepe have completed the signing of Ghanaian defensive midfielder Musah Mohammed from Bodrum FK, securing the 24-year-old on a deal running from 2026-02-04 to 2029-06-30. The move keeps the player in Türkiye but elevates him from the 1. Lig to a Süper Lig club, marking a significant step up in his career. The transfer has been finalised, with Mohammed now officially registered as a Göztepe player.
Although the fee remains undisclosed, the deal comes at a time when Mohammed’s market value is listed at €900k, underlining his status as a valuable asset in the Turkish market. The confirmed switch also means Bodrum FK lose one of their most highly rated players, while Göztepe add height, physical presence and ball-winning ability at the base of their midfield.
Mohammed arrives in Izmir as a specialist defensive midfielder, standing 1.92m tall and operating primarily in the holding role. A right-footed enforcer, he has developed his game in Türkiye over several seasons, building a profile first in the lower divisions before emerging as a key figure at Bodrum FK. His contract length ensures Göztepe retain control over his prime years, reducing the risk of the player becoming a free agent in the near term.
Born in Accra, Mohammed left Ghanaian side Sunyani Bectero FC to move to Türkiye when he joined Sincan Belediyesi Ankaraspor. From there, his career followed a steady upward trajectory: a loan move to Eyüpspor, a return to Sincan, and then a permanent transfer to Bodrum FK. That progression has been mirrored in his market value, which rose from €25k in early 2021 to a peak of €1m during his time with Bodrum FK, before settling at €900k ahead of this move.
At Bodrum FK, Mohammed played in the 1. Lig, gaining experience in a highly competitive second tier and contributing to a steady rise in both minutes and influence. His valuation climbed consistently through the 2022–2024 period as he became a regular presence in midfield, recognised for his capacity to shield the back line and break up opposition attacks. The Süper Lig now represents the highest level he has reached in his club career, offering exposure against stronger opponents and placing him in a larger domestic and international spotlight.
Göztepe’s decision to move for Mohammed fits a broader strategy of recruiting players who have adapted to Turkish football and can step immediately into the intensity of top-flight competition. With his contract in place from 2026-02-04 to 2029-06-30, the club have secured a long-term option in a crucial position, while the player consolidates his status as a Ghanaian export thriving abroad. For Mohammed, the transfer offers a platform to reinforce his reputation as an imposing defensive midfielder in the Süper Lig and potentially position himself for future moves or renewed terms once this current deal nears its end.
