German club Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Nigerian teenager Angelo Agbejoye.
The 18-year-old winger, who currently plies his trade with Grassrunner Academy, has reportedly been on the radar of Dortmund scouts for some time as the club continues its tradition of monitoring young talent across the continent.
The German giants are not alone in their admiration of Agbejoye. Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica are also understood to be closely following the winger’s progress, highlighting the level of competition building around the highly rated youngster.
Agbejoye’s profile has been rising steadily, with interest stretching beyond Germany, France and Portugal.
Manchester City are said to have shown concrete interest as far back as October, when the player was invited for a trial. That opportunity was reportedly cut short due to illness, although it was later rescheduled for January.
Despite the sustained monitoring, reports indicate that there has been no direct contact yet between Borussia Dortmund and the player’s representatives.
Nevertheless, the level of interest across Europe remains strong, and Agbejoye is believed to be open to discussions should Dortmund decide to make a formal approach.
The player’s agents have also been active, having travelled to Germany several times in recent weeks.
Sources have revealed that if a deal is not secured next week, Dortmund will wait to secure the teenager in the next summer window.
