CAF has announced disciplinary sanctions against the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and several Moroccan players following incidents during the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 final.
The Confederation of African Football confirmed that its Disciplinary Panel found multiple breaches of the CAF Disciplinary Code during and after the final, leading to suspensions and financial penalties for both individuals and the federation.
Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two official CAF matches for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
One of those matches has been suspended for a period of one year from the date of the decision, meaning it will only be enforced if another offence occurs within that timeframe.
Midfielder Ismaël Saibari received a three-match suspension for unsportsmanlike behaviour. He was also fined USD 100,000 by the disciplinary panel.
CAF also imposed sanctions on the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for several incidents linked to match operations and conduct around the final.
The federation was fined USD 200,000 for the inappropriate behaviour of stadium ball boys.
A further USD 100,000 fine was issued for the conduct of national team players and technical staff, who were found to have invaded the VAR examination area and obstructed the referee’s work.
CAF cited violations of Articles 82 and 83 of its Disciplinary Code in relation to this incident.
Supporter behaviour was also addressed in the ruling. The federation was fined USD 15,000 for the use of lasers by Moroccan supporters during the match, which CAF has consistently identified as a safety and integrity concern.
The sanctions follow an extensive review of official reports and evidence submitted after the final.
CAF stated that the measures reflect its commitment to enforcing discipline and maintaining order at its flagship tournaments.
All suspensions will apply to future CAF competitions, while the financial penalties take immediate effect, concluding the disciplinary process relating to Morocco’s involvement in the final.
