Mali midfielder Amadou Haidara is being linked with a move from RB Leipzig to Ligue 1 side Lens, with the probability of a deal currently rated at 45% according to Transfermarkt data.

The 27-year-old central midfielder, valued at €12.00m, is the subject of mounting speculation as his future in the Bundesliga comes under increasing scrutiny. While no agreement has been reached and no contract details have been disclosed, the possibility of a switch to France – or even a future as a free agent if no extension is agreed – has brought his situation into focus.

Haidara, who wears the number 8 shirt for Leipzig, has been with the German club since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2019. The former JMG Academy Bamako prospect progressed through FC Liefering and Salzburg in Austria before establishing himself in the Bundesliga, and has experience in top-flight European competition with both clubs.

His market value has fluctuated over recent seasons, peaking at around €24m during his early Leipzig years before gradually dropping to its current €12m assessment. That figure is likely to influence any fee Lens would need to negotiate, particularly with Leipzig facing a decision over whether to cash in or risk losing value if his contract situation is not resolved.

Haidara is listed primarily as a central midfielder and is right-footed, offering energy and versatility in the middle of the pitch. Born in Bamako on 31 January 1998, he has built a reputation as a hard-working presence between the lines, shaped by spells in the Austrian Bundesliga and now the German Bundesliga.

With Lens looking to reinforce in Ligue 1 and Leipzig potentially open to reshaping their midfield options, Haidara’s next move could prove pivotal – either as a springboard into French football or as a staging point for the next phase of his European career if the rumoured transfer materialises.
