Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola expressed his delight after Egyptian star Omar Marmoush scored his first goal of the season in City’s 3-1 win over Swansea in the Carabao Cup.

“I’m very happy for Omar. Strikers need to score for confidence, and this goal will help him a lot. He’s been out with injury, so it’s special to see him back and scoring,” Guardiola said after the match.

Guardiola praised his squad’s depth, especially singling out the performances of Rayan Cherki and Nico Gonzalez. “Erling (Haaland) is very important, but we need Omar too. Having both expands our options. With his return, we get more attacking variety, he can play multiple roles and help us rest Haaland in some games,” Guardiola explained.

Reflecting on the match, Guardiola added, “Swansea started better, but we took control after 25 minutes. In the second half, we attacked well and minimized their counterattacks. I’m proud of the youngsters’ desire and the whole team’s performance.”

Algerian winger Rayan Cherki said, “It’s a great feeling coming back and helping my teammates again. The coach told us to enjoy the game and be calmer in the final third, that’s what changed the match.”
