Ghana attacker Brandon Thomas-Asante scores brace to secure Coventry’s 2-1 win over Portsmouth
Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante delivered another standout performance on Tuesday night, scoring twice to inspire Coventry City to a 2-1 away victory over Portsmouth in the English Championship.
Thomas-Asante, who has been in exceptional form since the start of the 2025/26 season, was once again trusted with a starting spot by head coach Frank Lampard.
Playing at Fratton Park in a Round 11 fixture, the Black Stars forward rose to the occasion, proving decisive for the visitors.
He opened the scoring in the 30th minute after being picked out by Ellis Simms, finishing clinically to give Coventry the lead. Thomas-Asante returned after the break to double his tally in the 56th minute, once again combining with Simms to complete his brace.
Portsmouth managed a consolation goal in stoppage time through Makenzie Kirk, but it was not enough to deny Coventry all three points.
Thomas-Asante’s brace takes his tally to eight goals in 11 Championship appearances this season.
He remains a key figure in Coventry’s push for promotion to the Premier League and is expected to play a crucial role in their campaign ambitions.
