Dortmund still interested in English-Ghanaian defender Josh Acheampong despite faile summer attempt
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly still interested in signing English teenager of Ghanaian descent, Josh Acheampong.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Dortmund had been actively pursuing the 19-year-old centre-back ahead of finalising their moves for Carney Chukwuemeka and Aarón Anselmino.
The German club reportedly explored several transfer options with Chelsea, including a loan deal with an option to buy, as well as a permanent transfer.
However, Chelsea rejected all proposals, insisting Acheampong would remain at Stamford Bridge.
The teenager, who is of Ghanaian descent, is regarded as one of the most promising defensive talents at the club and is under contract until 2029.
The development confirms earlier reports that Dortmund were specifically targeting a young central defender with long-term potential.
Acheampong fits that profile, and Borussia Dortmund are expected to continue monitoring his situation with a view to a possible future move.
