Malian striker Lassine Sinayoko set to leave AJ Auxerre at end of contract

Malian striker Lassine Sinayoko has resolved his future by choosing not to renew his deal with AJ Auxerre, paving the way for a free transfer when his contract expires in June 2026.

The 25-year-old has attracted sustained interest from several clubs, including OGC Nice, RC Lens, Olympique Lyonnais and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Despite this, Auxerre’s management blocked all summer approaches, rejecting negotiations for his departure.

Journalist Romain Molina revealed that the decision has left Sinayoko unsettled in recent weeks, straining his relationship with the club hierarchy.

According to Molina, the forward’s frustration stems from feeling denied the opportunity to advance his career at a higher level.

Sinayoko, who is under contract until 30 June 2026 and valued at around €4 million on Transfermarkt, has reportedly decided to run down his deal.

That would allow him to walk away on a free transfer, pocketing a significant signing bonus upon joining a new team.

RC Lens, one of the clubs most eager to secure his services, remains a possible destination.

Former France international Djibril Sidibé weighed in on the situation, backing the player’s stance.

Lassine is at an age where he needs to take the next step. If Auxerre don’t open the door, he will find a way himself, Sidibé said.

Sinayoko has been one of Auxerre’s most reliable attacking outlets in recent seasons, combining physical presence with an ability to unsettle defences.

His decision not to extend is likely to leave a void in the squad, while also depriving the club of a potential transfer fee.

Auxerre now face the challenge of balancing the player’s continued contribution on the pitch with the knowledge that his long-term future lies elsewhere.

For Sinayoko, the choice reflects both ambition and pragmatism: by seeing out his contract, he gains control over his next move and secures leverage in negotiations.

Auxerre are preparing for their Ligue 1 fixture against AS Monaco on Matchday 4, but Sinayoko’s unresolved future threatens to overshadow preparations.

Fans and management alike will now watch closely to see whether he can remain focused and deliver consistent performances despite the ongoing uncertainty.

For the Malian international, the countdown to 2026 has already begun — and his next destination may well lie in France’s top flight or abroad, but almost certainly away from the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps.
