‘No comment’ – Arteta dodges question about English-Nigerian star Eberechi Eze as Arsenal transfer nears
Arteta has dodged questions about Eberechi Eze but revealed that him supporting Arsenal is a huge advantage to the club, refusing to be drawn on speculation surrounding the Crystal Palace midfielder who is widely expected to complete a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Eze, born in London to Nigerian parents, has risen to prominence as one of the Premier League’s most creative midfielders.
The English-Nigerian playmaker has been heavily linked with Arsenal, and his status as a lifelong Gunners supporter has heightened anticipation over a potential transfer.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Leeds United, Arteta was asked directly about the imminent deal but brushed it aside.
“Nothing to comment. I can never talk about any player that is not part of our group yet,” he said.
When pressed further on whether a player’s affection for Arsenal could provide an advantage, the Spaniard was more open.
“The better the feeling, the stronger the feeling then the better always because it brings a different edge, will and emotion to what you do and I think that always brings something extra.”
Arteta has frequently highlighted the value of culture and mentality within his squad, pointing to Arsenal legends such as Dennis Bergkamp and Per Mertesacker, who shared deep connections to the club.
Should Eze’s signing be completed, his boyhood support is seen as a factor that could amplify his commitment and performances.
