West Ham United have finalised a deal to sign Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf from Czech side Slavia Prague, with the player now set to undergo a medical ahead of the move.
The Premier League club will pay an initial £19 million fee for the left-back, with additional performance-related bonuses potentially increasing the final amount.
The agreement marks a significant reinforcement for the Hammers’ defence following the departure of Aaron Cresswell, whose contract expired at the end of last season.
Diouf, 23, has enjoyed a rapid rise through European football since beginning his professional career with Norwegian outfit Tromsø.
He made the switch to Slavia Prague in January 2024 and quickly established himself as a key figure in the Czech club’s campaign.
Across all competitions last season, Diouf featured in 41 matches, scoring seven goals and contributing three assists—a notable return for a defender.
His attacking contributions from the left flank were widely praised, adding a new dimension to his game and attracting attention from top-flight clubs across Europe.
On the international stage, Diouf has already earned six caps for Senegal.
He was part of the squad that secured a 3-1 victory over England in June, further underlining his potential and readiness for elite-level football.
West Ham’s interest in the versatile full-back intensified after Cresswell’s exit left a void on the left side of defence.
The club’s recruitment strategy under new manager Julen Lopetegui has focused on youth, athleticism, and tactical adaptability—qualities Diouf is widely regarded to possess.
A source close to the negotiations confirmed that Diouf has been granted permission to travel to London to complete his medical tests.
If all goes to plan, he will join West Ham ahead of their pre-season preparations, giving him time to integrate into the squad before the 2025/26 campaign kicks off.
Known for his pace, overlapping runs, and defensive composure, Diouf is expected to compete for a starting role immediately.
The move also signals West Ham’s ambition to continue building a squad capable of competing domestically and in European competitions.
With his blend of international experience and European club success, Diouf’s arrival could prove to be a key piece in West Ham’s summer transfer window.
