Arsenal step up pursuit of Ademola Lookman as Atalanta demand £52m for Nigeria forward
Arsenal’s pursuit of Ademola Lookman has intensified, with Italian club Atalanta reportedly valuing the Nigerian forward at £52 million ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are actively seeking a versatile attacking option, and Lookman, who is believed to be open to a Premier League return, has emerged as a serious target.
Having previously played for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, the 27-year-old is no stranger to English football and could slot seamlessly into Mikel Arteta’s setup.
Lookman’s stock rose sharply after an impressive 2024/25 campaign with Atalanta, where he scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
His form has attracted interest from other Premier League sides, including Aston Villa and Liverpool, but Arsenal appear to be in the strongest position to make a move.
Arteta is reportedly considering alternatives on the left wing, amid the inconsistent form of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and sees Lookman as a potentially effective solution.
While Real Madrid’s Rodrygo remains Arsenal’s primary offensive target, the Gunners are closely monitoring Lookman as a backup option should the Spanish giants resist letting their forward leave.
According to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, Atalanta have fixed their asking price at £52 million, a valuation seen as reasonable for a player entering his peak years and already well-versed in the Premier League.
