Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has chosen the ongoing season as his best season because of his determination to win the Premier League and helping nurture young talent.
The 32-year-old expressed his delight after scoring in a 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, a win that extended Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League to 11 points.
Salah’s goal marked his 25th in the league this season, complemented by 16 assists, underscoring his pivotal role in Liverpool’s campaign.
Asked if this is his best season, Salah said: “I don’t know. It is opinion. Maybe people prefer my first seasons or now but I prefer now because winning the league, helping the young players, it is special.
“We need another title. Me and the big guys in the team, we need another title.”
This season, Salah has achieved several milestones, including becoming the first player in Premier League history to record over 40 goal involvements in two separate seasons.
He also matched Lionel Messi’s record by scoring and assisting in 11 league matches within a single season.
The victory over Manchester City was particularly significant, as it marked Liverpool’s first win at the Etihad Stadium since 2018.
“It is incredible. It is a very hard place to come and play here. They are a tough team and they have an incredible manager I am glad in the end we won the game. It is special. Especially when you are in the title race, it is incredible.
“Hopefully we keep calm because sometimes the pressure gets to us. We try to win each game.”
